Request an Item

Please complete this form to request materials that are not currently owned by Washoe County Library System, and we will do our best to fulfil your request. This form is intended for Washoe County Library users to request items for their own use.

Please use this form to request only physical materials (print, CD, DVD, Blu-ray), articles (magazine/journal or newspaper), or microfilm. If you would like to request an ebook or downloadable audiobook, please search for the item in the library's digital collection and follow the prompts to recommend a title.

We will attempt to obtain your requested item(s) through whatever means we decide is the most efficient, practical, and cost-effective. Usually, your request will be fulfilled either by borrowing the material from another library for your use, or by purchasing it for the Washoe County Library collection, in accordance with our Collection Development Policy. Please note that items borrowed from another library system may not be picked up on the bookmobile. If your request is fulfilled via inter-library loan and you selected the bookmobile as your pickup location, the item will be held at the branch nearest to the address in your library account. Requests for audiovisual materials will be considered for purchase only as we do not lend or borrow these items through interlibrary loan.

Please check your account to see when the item has been placed on hold for you. If we are able to obtain the item, this information should be available within two weeks. If it has been longer than two weeks and your requested item does not appear on your account, please contact the library for more information.

Please note: The publisher determines in which formats an item will be made available, if at all; we cannot guarantee that the item you request will be available in the desired format. If you are an author or publisher who would like to suggest or promote your materials for consideration, please contact Debi Stears, Resources Librarian.
