Sentenced to Life Without Parole

A Reno man who shot and killed his girlfriend and their unborn child has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Guy Lambert (dob 7/2/86), who pled guilty to the charges, was also sentenced to a consecutive 20 years for a deadly weapon enhancement, on top of the First Degree Murder sentence.

The case against Lambert began in 2020, when officers with the Reno Police Department (RPD) were sent to an apartment building on Park Street, following reports of a shooting. At the apartment, they found 28-year-old Tiffany Self suffering from a gunshot wound to her face. Despite life-saving efforts, Self, who was approximately 4 months pregnant with the defendant’s child, died from her injuries.

During the investigation, officers discovered that Self had been staying at a friend’s apartment following a fight with Lambert. She said she was fearful of the defendant, needed a place to hide from him, and asked the friend not to tell the defendant she was there. The defendant had been searching for Self, and when he learned where Self was hiding from a mutual acquaintance, he obtained a handgun, forced his way into the apartment, shot Self, and fled.

Four days after the shooting, a tip to Secret Witness led police to where Lambert was hiding, and he was arrested by RPD Robbery/Homicide Unit Detectives, with assistance from detectives in both the Regional Crime Suppression Unit and the Repeat Offender Unit. The Robbery/Homicide Unit conducted a thorough follow-up investigation, locating, among other evidence, additional witnesses placing Lambert at the crime scene.

During sentencing, Self’s mother and sister described their grief. Chief Deputy District Attorney Luke Prengaman highlighted the evidence of premeditation and argued that the aggravated nature of the murder warranted a life-without-parole sentence. The Honorable Judge Scott Freeman presided and imposed the maximum sentence allowed by law.
