Defendants Both Involved in Murder Cases

David Turner, the man who ran three people over and killing one of them, has pled guilty to one count of First Degree Murder With the Use of a Deadly Weapon and two counts of Attempted Murder With the Use of a Deadly Weapon.

On April 3rd of this year, Reno Police responded to a report of a hit and run of three pedestrians near the Cares Campus. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that Turner had intentionally drove his jeep into a group of people, killing 55-year-old Michelle Jardine and seriously injuring 47-year-old Christina Roman and 22-year-old Clarissa Roman.

During the incident, Turner told law enforcement that he purposefully hit the victims. Turner faces a maximum prison sentence of life without the possibility of parole for the Murder charge, and additional maximum prison sentences of 40 years for each Attempted Murder charge. Turner entered his pleas of guilty to all three offenses without any negotiations from the District Attorney’s Office.

Suzanne Ehlers has pled guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter, after she suffocated a woman. Sparks Police were dispatched to a report of a fight near Glendale Ave. and Rock Blvd. on January 1st of this year. When officers arrived, they found Ehlers sitting on top of 51-year-old Kim Rohr’s chest and neck. During the investigation, the defendant told police that she and the victim had gotten into a fight before Ehlers sat on her. Rohr was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead nine days later. Ehlers faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

Sentencing Hearings for Ehlers and Turner are set for November 20th, 2023, and January 29th, 2024, respectively, with the Honorable Judge Scott Freeman presiding over both cases.
