Defendant Out on Bail Arrested and Charged with Multiple Criminal Offenses

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has announced that Adam Matthew Moore age 30, from Sparks has been sentence to a combined 11 years in prison related to convictions in three separate criminal cases. Moore pled guilty to one count of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, one count of Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and one count of Attempted Felony Eluding a Police Officer. Based on the sentences, Moore must serve a minimum of 4 years in prison before parole eligibility begins.

The case against Moore began on September 20, 2019 when detective with the Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU) conducted an undercover narcotics operation. The investigation led to the arrest of Moore for possession of narcotics and being a felon in possession of a stolen firearm. On December 29, 2019, Moore was out on bail when he fled from the Sparks Police Department (SPD) after failing to yield for a traffic stop and fleeing at a high rate of speed. His vehicle was later located and information led to Moore being identified as the driver. He was not immediately apprehended, but later charged with the offense. On September 21, 2020, the Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU) received information about Moore’s whereabouts. Based on this information, detectives were able to locate Moore, who attempted to flee again and discard the narcotics that were in his possession. He was apprehended and a search warrant was executed on the room Moore had been staying in. Trafficking amounts of Heroin, Oxycodone pills, drug paraphernalia and $1740 dollars were located as a result of the search and arrest.

During sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Michael Vieta-Kabell argued that a significant term of incarceration was necessary to protect the citizens of Washoe County and that Mr. Moore’s possession of a firearm and willingness to flee from the police at high speeds put members of the community in harm’s way.
