The Salvation Army of Washoe County is holding a Red Kettle Ring Off between the cities of Reno and Sparks on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Reno dignitaries’ kettle is located at Shoppers Square (corner of South Virginia and Plumb Lane). Sparks dignitaries’ kettle will be at Scheels (located at Legends Shopping Center).

“The kettle ring is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness for The Salvation Army and all they do for those who are less fortunate this holiday season,” Sparks Mayor Geno Martini said.  “I appreciate all of the community leaders who are involved in this endeavor this year.”

“Please join us in supporting this annual holiday tradition,” Reno Vice Mayor and Councilwoman Neoma Jardon said. “It’s my holiday wish that our community will be inspired to help those in need this holiday season.”

Mayor Martini will be at Scheels, and Vice Mayor Jardon will be at Shoppers Square at the same designated time, between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Reno Councilwoman Naomi Duerr will participate from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Shoppers Square. Reno Councilman Oscar Delgado and Sparks Councilman Ed Lawson will be at their respective locations between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Other community leaders participating in the kettle ring include Sparks City Manager Steve Driscoll, Washoe County Manager John Slaughter, Reno Police Chief Jason Soto, Sparks Fire Chief Chris Maples and other local leaders and their representatives.
