Brett Adam Doyle will be eligible for parole in 45 years.
Reno, Nevada. May 1, 2015. The Honorable Elliott Sattler sentenced Brett Adam Doyle, 46, two counts of life in prison for Sexual Assault of a Child and Lewdness with a Child Under the Age of Fourteen Years. He will be eligible for parole in 45 years.
In August of 2014, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by federal agents regarding an investigation into the production and distribution of child pornography and potential sexual abuse of a local child. The agents identified Doyle as someone they had been communicating with in an undercover capacity in an area of the internet known for sexual exploitation of children and sharing of child pornography. These communications resulted in Doyle providing the undercover agent images of him sexually assaulting the victim.
Days later with the assistance of the District Attorney’s Office, detectives served a search warrant at the defendant’s residence. Upon conducting a forensic search of the electronic devices located in his house, they found video of Doyle engaged in numerous sexual acts with the now 12 year old victim. They also found sexually provocative images of the child victim. Doyle confessed to the crimes. He had been sexually abusing her since she was 8 years old.
During the emotional sentencing the victim’s mother presented a very powerful victim impact statement stating that irreparable emotional harm has occurred to the minor child and her family and that Doyle “stole her innocence”.
“It is fitting that Doyle was sentenced to such a lengthy prison sentence on the last day of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.” said Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks. “This kind of sentence empowers victims and protects the public while sending a clear message to child sexual predators. Simply, when we get you, you will go to prison for a very long time.”
This case was investigated by the FBI, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Washoe County Child Advocacy Center.
