Shawn Hemingway to be sentenced March 30.
Reno, Nevada. Jan. 29, 2015. Wednesday, Jan. 28, a Washoe County jury found Shawn Hemingway guilty of Battery upon an Officer and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On June 10, 2013, police responded to an address in Washoe County regarding a possible hit and run accident. Officers encountered Hemingway in the parking lot of his apartment complex and summoned REMSA personnel as he appeared to need medical assistance. Hemingway became aggressive toward REMSA personnel and law enforcement. A physical struggle ensued in which Hemingway spit in the face of a Reno Police Officer.
Hemingway was arrested for Battery upon an Officer. Upon his arrival at the Washoe County Jail, he was found to have Methamphetamine in the coin pocket of his pants.
Deputy District Attorney Michael Bolenbaker states that Hemingway could face up to 364 days in the Washoe County Jail for the Battery upon an Officer count and up to four years in the Nevada State Prison for the Possession of Controlled Substance count. Sentencing is scheduled for March 30, 2015, at 8:30 a.m., before the Honorable Lidia Stiglich, Department 8, Second Judicial District Court.
