Jury finds Elton Castine guilty
Castine faces up to 20 years in Nevada State Prison.
Reno, Nevada. Jan 7, 2015. Tuesday night, Jan. 6, 2015, after deliberating for eight hours, a Washoe County jury found defendant Elton Castine, guilty of burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.
On Sept. 13, 2014, at 3:45 a.m., police responded to a call of shots being fired outside the Fantasy Girls strip club in Reno. The investigation showed that Castine attacked his wife while she was seated in a vehicle in the establishment’s parking lot, pointed a handgun at her head and then fled. Witnesses described hearing gunshots before Castine fled in another vehicle. Five 40 caliber Smith & Wesson shell casings were recovered; however, the gun was never located. Upon Castine’s arrest, he was found to be in possession of heroin.
Deputy District Attorney Darcy Cameron states that Castine could face up to 20 years in the Nevada State Prison at the time of sentencing, which is set for March 4, 2015, at 9:00 a.m., before the Honorable Scott Freeman, Department 9, Second Judicial District Court.
