Convicted of 2021 Fatal Shooting
A Sparks man has been sentenced to 70 years in prison with eligibility for parole after 28 years, in connection to a 2021 murder.
Following a jury trial in May, 22-year-old Brian Rodriguez-Sigala was found guilty of First-Degree Murder with the Use of a Deadly Weapon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
The case against Rodriguez-Sigala began in March of 2021, when Sparks Police responded to an apartment on Sullivan Lane. There, they found the victim, 67-year-old Javier Rodriguez-Ramirez, inside with a gunshot wound to the chest.
During sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Jeff Hoppe argued that Rodriguez-Sigala is a threat to the safety of our community because he cannot control his methamphetamine-induced, violent impulses that resulted in him murdering the victim.
The Honorable Judge David Hardy presided over the trial and imposed the sentence.
