WCDA's Office Sentencing Result in August 2020 Sparks Shooting Case
Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks has announced that Dylan Thomas Fisher, age 27 has been sentenced last week to a maximum term of 21 years in prison after having pled guilty to robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges. Fisher pled guilty last December to one count of Robbery and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Based on the sentenced secured by Washoe County Deputy District Attorney (DDA) Matt Merrill, Fisher must serve a minimum of just over 7 years before parole eligibility begins.
The case against Fisher began on August 20, 2020 when the Sparks Police Department (SPD) responded to a report of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they located two victims and gathered evidence of the shooting to include bullet fragments, 15 9mm shell casings and damaged vehicle and property consistent with having been struck by bullets. In addition, one bullet was located in the driver door of the vehicle the victims had been driving when the shooting had occurred. A subsequent investigation by the Regional Gang Unit identified two defendants through surveillance footage. Additional evidence in the form of shell casings were located in a vehicle driven by Fisher when he was arrested shortly after the shooting. A co-defendant, Alejandro Reyes age 28 from Sparks, was also arrested in the case and pled guilty to one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was sentenced last July to a term of 6 years in prison with parole eligibility beginning after a minimum of 2 years has been served.
At sentencing, DDA Merrill argued that the egregious and dangerous actions of the Defendants violated the victim’s safety and peace, the victim’s sanctity of their homes, and the safety of the community at large. He further requested that Defendant Fisher receive the maximum prison sentence allowed under law.
