Affordable Spay and Neuter Services for Qualifying Washoe County Residents

Washoe County Regional Animal Services helping to reduce overpopulation in Washoe County

Washoe County Regional Animal Services (WCRAS) has partnered with the SPCA of Northern Nevada to provide affordable spay and neuter services for dogs and cats belonging to low-income residents of Washoe County who qualify. This program is made possible by a grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (“ASPCA”).

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Washoe County Regional Animal Services to provide even more affordable spay and neuter services for our community,” said Jill Vacchina Dobbs, executive director at the SPCA of Northern Nevada. “Spaying and neutering pets is important to help mitigate the high national rate of pet euthanasia, prevents unwanted pregnancies, and helps pets live longer, healthier lives.”

“We at Regional Animal Services are excited to collaborate on this very valuable service for our community. Each animal that is spayed or neutered helps our shelters take one more step in the right direction in preventing unnecessary animal suffering and overpopulation in our region,” said Shyanne Schull, director of Washoe County Regional Animal Services.

To qualify you must be very low income or receive other governmental assistance such as SNAP, disability or unemployment due to COVID-19 and you must be a Washoe County resident.   We also offer free microchips, vaccinations and first-time licenses to those who qualify for the spay/neuter program.
