Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office preparing for Primary Election

Reno, Nev. April 23, 2020. The Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office would like the community to keep watch for the Notice of Vote-By-Mail Election and Official Sample Ballot coming to mailboxes the week of April 27, in preparation for the coming Primary Election on June 9, 2020.

What will be in my Sample Ballot for the Primary Election? This Primary Election Sample Ballot is a document sent to registered voters to help them prepare for an all mail-in election with valuable information, including how to mark and return your absentee ballot, polling place location and hours for individuals that need to same-day register or to update their existing record, and offices and candidates that will appear on your ballot.

Does it matter if I have updated my address? Yes. Your Ballot is based on where you live. In order to vote on the contests and candidates that represent you, your address must be updated to ensure you are receiving the proper Ballot for where you live. “Sample Ballots are an important resource for voters, and this Election Year we are pleased to bring more flexibility by offering the online Sample Ballot for our voters” explains Deanna Spikula, Washoe County Registrar of Voters.

Voting and COVID-19

Due to COVID-19, the Nevada Secretary of State has announced the 2020 Primary Election will be conducted as an all-mail election. This means, if you are a registered voter in Nevada you will receive a mail-in, or absentee ballot.

If you have not registered to vote, you can do so online through May 21 and still receive a ballot in the mail.
