Francisco Vega Joins Health District as New Director of Air Quality Management

Vega has 18 years’ experience in air quality management, starts Oct. 28
Reno, Nev. Oct. 28, 2019 – The Washoe County Health District is pleased to announce the hiring of Francisco Vega, P.E., as the new Division Director of Air Quality Management Division (AQMD).
Vega comes to the Health District with 18 years of experience in air quality management and environmental engineering, including 14 years at the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection. He most recently served as a Senior Environmental Adviser for NVEnergy.
Vega has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno.
“We are excited to welcome Francisco to the Health District team,” said Kevin Dick, Washoe County District Health Officer. “Francisco was chosen from a number of qualified candidates that applied for the position. His experience, both in the public and private sector, will serve him well as the Division Director of Air Quality Management.”
Vega is a registered professional engineer and is Visible Emissions Evaluation Certified. He’s a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Air & Waste Management Association.

AQMD, one of four divisions within the Health District, implements clean air solutions that protect the quality of life for the citizens of Reno, Sparks and Washoe County. Through community partnerships, we provide programs and services such as air monitoring, permitting and compliance, planning, and public education.
