Art from the Earth: Nature-Inspired Arts Event & Guided Tours for Local Seniors
Seniors invited to Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden on September 28
Reno, Nev. Sept. 23, 2019. The Washoe County Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the first annual Art form the Earth senior event. In partnership with Art Partners, a collaborative program of the Sanford Center for Aging and the John and Geraldine Lilley Museum of Art at UNR, Art from the Earth is an opportunity for senior members of the community and their families to celebrate arts and crafts inspired by the gardens of the May Arboretum.
The event will feature art activity stations which will include natural dyeing with marigolds, sun printing using local plants, and creating nature crowns from natural materials found in the gardens. In addition to arts-based activities, seniors can enjoy two 45-minute Art Meets History guided tours throughout the gardens. All activities and supplies will be provided free of charge thanks in part to the May Arboretum Society. Registration is requested, but not required.
