Holiday Closures
On Wednesday, December 24, all libraries will close early — at 4 pm — except the Gerlach Community Library, the Verdi Community Library and Nature Center, and the Duncan/Traner Community Library, which will be closed all day, and the Senior Center library which will close at its usual time of 1 pm. All Washoe County Library locations will be closed Thursday, December 25, for the Christmas holiday.

Reno, Nev. Aug. 8, 2019. With lightning strikes sparking numerous fire starts yesterday, flash floods in the region with more thunderstorms and strong winds forecast today, Washoe County and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District would like to share safety reminders with residents:

With possible thunderstorms, lightning and windy conditions, please avoid outdoor activity that could start a wildfire, including target shooting and campfires.
Now is the time to create defensible space around your property.
Should thunderstorms bring sudden rainfall, keep ditches & culverts around homes and property clear and remove any debris immediately. Even a small object can cause a backup and overwhelm ditches.
