Crews will be improving infrastructure, performing maintenance
Reno, Nev. July 10, 2019. Washoe County and the City of Reno will be temporarily closing a portion of Lemmon Drive beginning Monday, July 15, 2019. The closure is expected to remain in effect through Thursday, July 18, 2019. The temporary closure will take place each day from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The road will be closed at Lemmon Drive from Patrician Drive to Chickadee Drive, including the alternate detour on the private road, Deodar Road. A detour route for residents will be available on Military Road.
The closure will occur so crews can improve the infrastructure of Lemmon Drive and perform maintenance of protections surrounding Swan Lake, to include:
Crossing improvements – Three existing crossings will be replaced with more gradual, smoother crossings to enable better travel for general traffic, trailers and trucks. These improvements, as requested by residents, will better accommodate the rural lifestyle of the community and the traveling public.
HESCO barrier maintenance – Crews will be evaluating and reinforcing current barriers and protections around Swan Lake. With warmer weather and increasing evaporation of Swan Lake, this is an opportunity for crews to perform general maintenance work.
The goal of the work by Washoe County and City of Reno crews is to maintain the barrier system surrounding Swan Lake, and provide greater safety by enhancing current infrastructure and protections for the community and traveling public.
Lemmon Drive is expected to re-open to the public on Friday, July 19.
