Appointment fulfills the Judicial Vacancy in the Family Division, Department 14

Reno, Nev. May 7, 2019. The Second Judicial District Court is proud to welcome Tamatha Schreinert to the Family Division. On Tuesday, May 1, 2019, Governor Sisolak announced the appointment of Tamatha Schreinert to fill the judicial vacancy in Department 14.  Ms. Schreinert has extensive professional experience with the District Court.  She served as a Court Master in the Family Division for two years.  Most recently, as a Partner at Silverman, Kattelman, Springgate, Chtd, she often appeared before the Family Division bench.

“I am delighted that Tamatha Schreinert will be among my colleagues on the Family Division Bench.  The citizens of Washoe County will benefit from her passion, sound legal reasoning and zealous commitment to serving the public,” stated Family Division Presiding Judge, Frances Doherty.

Ms. Schreinert has served in several capacities at the Second Judicial District Court.  Over the years, she has used her dedication and experience to benefit vulnerable families and children in our community.  As a District Court Judge, Ms. Schreinert will continue to focus on improving the lives of those served by the District Court. 

Chief Judge Scott Freeman further confirmed, “The Second Judicial District Court has several programs designed to assist families navigate a complex legal system. Tamatha Schreinert has volunteered her time to help those families fully access these programs and services.  She is an active volunteer in our Lawyer in the Library Program and serves as a court-appointed mediator in dependency matters.  Having direct knowledge of these court programs makes her a natural fit as a Family Division Judge.” 

Demonstrating this commitment, Ms. Schreinert explains, “I am thrilled to be appointed as District Judge in Department 14.  Thank you, Governor Sisolak, for this honor of serving the people of my hometown.  The Family Division touches so many lives in Washoe County.  This appointment allows me to continue my dedication to helping children and their families in the legal system.  I look forward to joining my colleagues at the Second Judicial District Court in this important work.  It feels like I am coming home.”
