Commissioners approve an agreement for Wildcreek property

Reno, Nev. Feb. 19, 2019. The following report highlights several important agenda items from the Washoe County Board of Commissioners meeting:

1. Commissioners adopt a resolution approving an agreement to transfer a portion of the Wildcreek Golf Course. After a public hearing, Commissioners adopted a resolution approving a cooperative agreement with the Washoe County School District (WCSD) and the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority to convey a portion of the Wildcreek Golf Course on Sullivan Lane in Sparks, to WCSD for a new high school and setting the terms of transfer.

By approving this cooperative agreement, it comprises the parcels of land, rights and obligations related to those parcels including personal property, water rights, rights to an effluent agreement, rights to a golf management agreement and a ditch maintenance agreement. Washoe County Commissioners approved the decision unanimously and acknowledge this agreement is in the best interest of Washoe County citizens.

“This is a very challenging project, and this site at Wildcreek is not without issues,” said Vice-Chair Lucey. “However, doing nothing is not a viable option; we need to move forward with a solution. This project would create regional impact of a positive nature, and this is an issue as a region we need to address. We have been able to preserve golf, and at the same time deliver a new school to students who need it.”

2. The Board of County Commissioners accepted the following donations:

“I am honored to acknowledge the generosity of our community so this county can maintain and enhance its operations,” said Vice-Chair Lucey. “We are grateful for these thoughtful contributions.”
