Fall Story Stroll Offered At Davis Creek Regional Park, September 22 - October 6
Hear an Original Story by Local Elementary Students in a Beautiful Outdoor Setting.
Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space, in partnership with the Washoe County Library System and the Washoe County School District, is offering their second Story Stroll to promote reading, engage elementary students, highlight our local parks, and engage our community – but this time, the students are writing the story.
The Roy Gomm Elementary School fourth grade class led by Jason Ventetuolo, has worked together to author an original story that will be featured in the Fall Story Stroll. The Fall Story Stroll will take place along the .7 mile loop Nature Trail, encircling the pond at Davis Creek Regional Park.
Local artist Sarah Grant lent her talents to the project by creating all of the illustrations for the book about how animals get ready for winter. Pages will be mounted along the trail for participants to read as they stroll around the pond. Ranger-led strolls will begin Sept. 22 and every Saturday until October 6, led by Park Ranger Nick Steuer. The stroll will conclude with an interactive activity given by Library representatives.
