Health District announces Foodborne Illness Risk Factor Survey results and workshops

The Washoe County Health District (WCHD) Environmental Health Services Division has released results of the 2017 Foodborne Illness Risk Factor Survey and has scheduled workshops for food establishment operators, consumers, and regulators to help develop intervention strategies to improve food handling practices and behaviors identified in the study. The study looked at food handling practices and behaviors commonly identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as contributing factors in foodborne illness outbreaks in Washoe County restaurants, retail food stores, and foodservice institutions (schools and senior living establishments).

The WCHD invites the regulated food industry and the general public to the workshops which are free to attend and open to the public. No RSVP is required.  Workshop dates are listed below. Click here for the full Baseline Risk Factor Study Report.
