Community welcome to Washoe County Park for 11th annual family-friendly event

Turkeys

Reno, Nev. Nov. 15, 2017. Washoe County Parks and Regional Open Space is excited to celebrate the season with the 11th Annual “Meet the Turkeys” Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. 

The turkeys will be in several pens for viewing, including an open pen where the public can enter, take photos and trot with the turkeys. In addition to Rancho San Rafael’s heritage turkeys, the community can also enjoy farm animals, Moolisa the milking cow from the Nevada Department of Agriculture, a mini bio blitz with the Truckee Meadow Parks Foundation, story time and crafts hosted by the Washoe County Library, scavenger hunts and activities with Discovery Room volunteers and Urban Roots. Horse and pony rides will be available at a cost of $5, and a local food truck.

11th Annual “Meet the Turkeys” Open House:

When: 10a.m. – 1p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017

Where: Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra Street, Reno

Cost: Free, however community is welcome to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
