The passing of Honorable Chief Judge Patrick Flanagan

Reno, Nev. Oct. 7, 2017. "I am truly saddened to hear of the passing of the Honorable Chief Judge Patrick Flanagan of the Second Judicial District Court. Not only is it a tragic event to suddenly lose any of our Washoe County family, but his passing strikes a very personal chord with me: I had the great privilege of being sworn into office as a Washoe County Commissioner in January 2015 by our Honorable Chief Judge Flanagan, and he was also a close friend and mentor in my early days as a Commissioner.

Judge Flanagan was a strong leader and supporter of our community, who worked to provide legal aid and pro bono legal services to citizens in need. He has been a trusted leader here in Washoe County since he was first elected to serve the Second Judicial District Court in 2006, and his upstanding character, wit and kind demeanor are a few of the many reasons our community grieves his loss.

Judge Flanagan will be dearly missed. May our thoughts and prayers be with his family and loved ones during this time."
