Washoe County seeks public input on offering new flexibility in living arrangements for on-site caregivers
Community Services Department hosting an open house Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017.
Reno, Nevada. Aug. 25, 2017. The Washoe County Community Services Department’s Planning and Building Division is hosting an open house regarding a proposed amendment to Washoe County Code Chapter 110 (Development Code).
The proposed update aims to provide flexibility in living arrangements when an infirm person requires an on-site caregiver. The Code currently allows for a caregiver to temporarily live on-site within a recreational vehicle (RV) or travel trailer under certain circumstances. The proposed amendment would eliminate the requirement that it be the caregiver who temporarily occupies the RV or travel trailer and instead would allow either the caregiver or the infirm person to occupy the RV or travel trailer.
The open house is Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Washoe County Administration Complex. The public is free to stop by anytime during the open house hours. County staff will be available to discuss the proposed amendment until 6 p.m.
Following public input, the amendment will be discussed by the Washoe County Planning Commission. The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017.
