Public Urged to Be Prepared and Remain Vigilant

**TO OUR MEDIA PARTNERS**

Reno, Nev. July 10, 2017. The #FaradFire continues to burn west of Verdi near the California/Nevada border and while CAL FIRE and US Forest Services are currently the commanding agencies, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) has some urgent messages to share with the public:

Remain Vigilant. Stay tuned in to media and the recommended Twitter channel, @HumboldtToiyabe, @CAL_FIRE and @TMFPD and the hashtag #FaradFire. In addition, it is recommended to stay at home if possible and avoid the I-80 area. If you need to travel please be aware of road closures, I-80 is currently closed on both sides at the Gold Ranch exit.

Be Prepared. While there are currently no evacuations in place in Nevada for the #FaradFire, this is a dynamic fire and it is always a good idea to have supplies on hand. Wildfires remain unpredictable, TMFPD, regional and state partners are prepared should direction or conditions shift.

“This fire is an unpredictable situation. We are urging the public to please avoid the I-80 area if possible and to remain vigilant and prepared,” says TMFPD Fire Chief, Charles Moore. “The weather is going to be hot and dry all week and these conditions will remain dynamic. TMFPD is preparing with our regional partners to be ready in the event this fire moves in an easterly direction.”
