Food Establishment Risk Factor Assessment
Health District to conduct Risk Factor Assessments within Washoe County food establishments
The Washoe County Health District (WCHD) will be conducting a Risk Factor Assessment within the county’s food establishments over the next few months. The purpose of the assessment is to measure the occurrence of practices and behaviors commonly identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as contributing factors in foodborne illness outbreaks.
Facilities will be randomly selected as part of this countywide assessment of food preparation procedures and practices specific to the various segments of the retail food industry. Approximately 250 facilities will be selected. From the data collected, the WCHD will provide guidance to industry food safety professionals to assist them in addressing food safety issues that have the most significant impact on protecting public health.
Th WCHD requests the cooperation of all food establishments selected for the assessment in order to help identify potential food safety risks that may affect public health.
