Free Family Health Festival slated for Wednesday, October 19

Services provided to attendees on first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last... Local Emmy Award-winning newscasters will read to children as part of activities

RENO, Nev.  – Truckee Meadows Healthy Communities (TMHC) in collaboration with the Washoe County Health District, Renown Regional Medical Center, Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Immunize Nevada, and other partners, is hosting another Family Health Festival on Wednesday, October 19 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Reno Town Mall (4001 South Virginia St). The event brings free and low-cost services to kids, students, adults and seniors (while supplies last).

Services provided will include: food stamps/SNAP and WIC registration; health screenings & immunizations; job application & resume help; family planning; HIV testing; bus passes; health insurance enrollment information; school supplies and more.

In addition, for the first time during a Family Health Festival, two local Emmy Award-winning reporters will be highlighting Washoe County Library’s involvement and presence at Reno Town Mall by reading books to children during the event. KOLO health reporter and Emmy Award-winning journalist Terri Russell will be on hand at 1 pm to read, and KTVN two-time Emmy Award winner Andi Guevara will read at 2:30 pm.

The Family Health Festival is part of TMHC’s continued efforts to work with local organizations to improve community health by focusing on food access, employment, affordable housing, and healthcare access and education. For more information, email info@immunizenevada.org or call 775-560-2556.
