Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District supports the 2nd Annual Hugs and Heroes Event
Fun safety and awareness event Saturday.
Reno, Nevada. Sept. 28, 2016. On Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, from 11 to 3 p.m. at Idlewid Park, the JUSTin HOPE Foundation is hosting a fun safety and awareness event where local first responders will come together to interact with our community members affected by autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. This event is being held FREE of charge to our community in order to solidify the first responder trainings that are occurring on how to effectively interact with persons with disabilities. Safety resources and information will be distributed. The Foundation will have a BBQ, vendors and a raffle. This event welcomes ALL families who would like to come out and meet your local first responders.
The JUSTin HOPE Foundation is a local nonprofit in Northern Nevada founded by parents of a child with autism who know firsthand the effects that neurodevelopmental disorders can have on a family.
Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) is a strong proponent of special needs children. TMFPD tries to assure special needs children that firemen are a safe place to turn to. The children will be able to get to witness all the firefighter tools, and see what's inside the fire trucks. The firefighters will be handing out Truckee Meadows FPD badges and other goodies! It's a great day for all ages!
