Follow along as County Employee embarks on 1,100-mile journey across Nevada.

nevada discovery ride, samantha, samantha szesciorkaReno, Nevada. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016. This week, a local woman will embark on an amazing equestrian journey. Samantha Szesciorka, her adopted mustang Sage, and her dog, Bella, will head out on a 1,100 mile solo journey around northern Nevada, through some of the state’s most remote and challenging terrain. On Aug. 10, the trio will set out from the geographic center of Nevada (southeast of Austin). Two and a half months later they will ride into Reno, having crossed mountains and deserts, ghost towns and wilderness areas, sand dunes and state parks.

The mission of the Nevada Discovery Ride is to promote wild horse adoption while highlighting some of Nevada’s backcountry places. During the ride, Samantha will carry a tracking device which will show their location so people can follow along. She will also post updates from the trail when possible. Samantha, Sage, and Bella previously completed a one-month, nearly 500 mile ride across central Nevada in 2013. The Nevada Discovery Ride is sponsored by Travel Nevada, Nevada State Parks, Washoe County, ThisIsReno.com, the Bureau of Land Management, and others.
