May 3, 2016. Reno, NV. The 3rd Annual Reno Mini Maker Faire is Saturday, July 9th, 2016 from 11am - 5 pm @ Idlewild Park! "Make, create, craft, DIY, recycle, build, think, play and be inspired by celebrating arts, crafts, engineering, food, music, science and technology."
The 3rd Annual Reno Mini Maker Faire will be the greatest show-and-tell in Northern Nevada. As a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, it is a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where makers – tech enthusiasts, artists, homesteaders, scientists, student clubs, and everyone in between - show what they are making and share what they are learning. This community-based learning event inspires everyone to become a maker and connect with other people and projects in our region. It emphasizes exploration, innovation, creativity and the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) and Do-It-Together (DIT) cultures. Featuring DIY science and technology, urban farming and alternative energy, arts and crafts, music, local food, and more, it is an all ages, family-friendly community celebration. In their simplest form, Maker Faires create opportunities and spaces for conversations and collaboration for makers of all types and stripes. We encourage everyone to come and share, learn, and be a part of Reno’s growing community of makers!
Presented by EDAWN and the DeLaMare Science and Engineering Library in partnership with Washoe County Library System, Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum local makerspaces, makers and innovators the maker movement is growing in Northern Nevada.
The first Maker Faire started in 2006 in San Mateo, California, organized by the editors of MAKE Magazine. Our Bay Area event just completed its ninth year, and has grown into a weekend-long celebration featuring 900+ Makers and attracting over 130,000 visitors. Our other flagship events take place in New York City and Washington D.C. while other “featured” Maker Faires take place in Detroit, Atlanta, Kansas City, Orlando, Silver Spring, Milwaukee, Tokyo, Shenzhen, Oslo, Trondheim, Rome and Newcastle. Mini Maker Faires are independently produced celebrations of local maker culture. Our Mini Maker Faire program provides tools and resources to help others to make a Maker Faire event that reflects the creativity, spirit and ingenuity of their community. Want to get involved?
