- 1 - 2 p.m. Downtown Reno Library Book Club. Come join our group for a lively discussion.
- 2 p.m. Paws 2 Read. Paws 4 Love dogs proudly present the Paws 2 Read reading program for children of all ages. Each month, Paws 4 Love therapy teams visit participating libraries where friendly dogs lend a loving, non-judgmental ear to beginning readers. After reading to a gentle dog, children receive a free book to keep.

Holmes on the Range by Steve Hockensmith. “When Big Red and Old Red Amlingmeyer sign on as ranch hands at the secretive Bar VR cattle spread, they're not expecting much more than hard work, bad pay, and a comfortable campfire around which they can enjoy their favorite pastime: scouring Harper's Weekly for stories about the famous Sherlock Holmes. But then the boys come across a dead body that looks a whole lot like the leftovers of an unfortunate encounter with a cattle stampede, Old Red sees the perfect opportunity to employ his Holmes-inspired deducifyin' skills. Big Red, like it or not, is along for the wild ride.”

- 6 - 7 p.m. Trash Talk with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB). Join us for an interactive presentation about solutions to common problems ranging from illegal dumping, littering, and watershed waste in our common areas. Learn about some tips and ways in which you can reduce your environmental footprint and get involved.

- 10:30 a.m. - noon & 1:00 - 2:30 pm Spring Family Estate Planning Series. Learn how to take charge of your own money and estate. Financial and estate decisions require knowledge in many areas; accounting, finance, legal, insurance, taxes, investments and charitable planning. Experts will help you navigate fundamentals of estate planning; wills, probate, and trusts; estate, gift, and transfer tax; responsibilities of trustees and executors; and more. Underwritten by KNPB Channel 5 and the Community Foundation of Western Nevada.
- 4 - 6 p.m. Coding for Beginners. In this 4-week coding class you will have access to NCLab self-paced courses, focusing on Karel Jr beginning coding.

- 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Basic Computer Class. In this 8-week introduction to computers, learn how to use a mouse, navigate the internet, and send an email. Each class builds on skills learned in previous classes. Therefore, it is strongly recommended for students to attend each class. Reservations only, reserve your seat by calling 327-8312.

- 1 - 3 p.m. Lifescapes. Lifescapes meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. In this program, Seniors are given an opportunity to write and share their memoirs. New members are always welcome. Lifescapes is a project sponsored by the Washoe County Library System, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), and the Department of English at the University of Nevada, Reno.
- 5 - 6:30 p.m. Book Club. This month the book club discusses The Johnstown Flood Paperback by David McCullough ( 1987 ). In Pennsylvania in the late 1880s, an old earthen dam was rebuilt to create a lake that would be used exclusively for a resort and its members. Among the members were Andrew Carnegie and Andrew Melon. The dam burst and flooded Johnstown, killing over 2,000 people. This became a national scandal as the survivors were not able to recover damages due the club’s financial structuring. However, new laws and regulations came into effect because of this tragedy.

Members of the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience have prepared a short, engaging, hands-on presentation on the brain. They'll bring real human brains, as well as plasticized sections, mouse brains, fly brains, diagrams and activities.

- 10 a.m.- Noon. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach Clinics. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada will be hosting SNAP outreach clinics to assist low-income families and individuals in applying for SNAP benefits. First come first served.

- 1:30 p.m. SO Very Literary This month’s selection is The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. Eleven-year-old Pecola Breedlove is a black girl in an America whose love for its blonde, blue-eyed children can devastate all others. She prays for her eyes to turn blue so that she will be beautiful, so that her world will be different. This is the story of the nightmare at the heart of her yearning, and the tragedy of its fulfillment.

- 6:30 p.m. My Pilgrimage on the Camino: Presentation of a Journey across Northern Spain by Barbara Longshore. People from all over the world walk the 500 miles, or portions of it, to end up in Santiago de Compostela. An ancient pathway to St James takes you through small towns and prominent cities. The terrain varies which challenges the pilgrim physically, mentally and spiritually. She will share the experience of preparation and of the journey.
