Assessor’s Office resolves most taxpayer valuation concerns prior to official hearings.

Reno, Nevada. March 31, 2016. Washoe County Assessor Michael Clark released information regarding property valuation appeals for the 2016 Washoe County Board of Equalization session, which was held throughout the month of February.

“Less than one-third of one percent of 2016/2017 real property valuations were appealed and only 19 hearings were scheduled before the Washoe County Board of Equalization,” said Clark.

There are 173,582 real property parcels in Washoe County and 30,996 Personal Property accounts.

Clark said it’s important that County residents know their rights as a property owner and they should feel free to contact him directly with any concerns.

“We want every single taxpayer in Washoe County to be aware they have a right to appeal their property assessments by January 15 each year,” Clark said. “Our goal is to treat every taxpayer fairly and in a professional manner. I am very proud of our staff’s efforts in settling appeals before the taxpayer had to appear before the Equalization Board."
