Washoe County is seeking applicants to serve on Planning Commission

Vacancy is to represent Commission District 3 on the Planning Commission.

Reno, Nevada. March 24, 2016. The Washoe County Community Services Department, Planning and Development Division, is accepting applications from residents living in the unincorporated portion of Washoe County Commission District 3 to serve on the Washoe County Planning Commission.

Unincorporated District 3 generally includes Sun Valley south of 7th Ave., and east of O’Brien Pass (Dream Catcher Dr.). To find out which district you live in, go to the bottom of this page. The Planning Commission regularly meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Washoe County Commission Chambers. Special meetings of the Commission may be called by the Chair.

The Commission hears and decides on applications for abandonments, certain special use permits, and tentative subdivisions. The Commission also makes recommendations concerning the County’s Master Plan, regulatory zone changes, and the County’s land use regulations. Meetings average between two to three hours in duration. The appointment is for a full four-year term beginning July 1, 2016, and ending June 30, 2020.

Requirements

Applicants for the Planning Commission must be residents of unincorporated Washoe County and the area from which they are to be appointed (District 3). They must also be registered voters.
