Rancho San Rafael Regional Park announces the Ranching at Rancho Series.

Reno, Nevada. June 26, 2015. You are invited to bask in the summer sun and have some fun at Washoe County's beautiful Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. Washoe County Parks and Open Space is calling on all ranchers and farmers and those interested in Nevada to Rancho San Rafael Regional Park for the Ranching at Rancho Series.

Within Rancho San Rafael Regional Park there is an area known as the Great Basin Adventure Area; a site that once hosted concessions, water rides, ranch themed petting areas, horse rides, a log flume ride, a mining building and many other great features. This area lost its funding in 2009, but Washoe County Parks and Open Space is working to restore and turn it into an area that honors and interprets ranching/farming in Nevada, both in a historical context as well as modern.

Washoe County Parks and Open Space is offering programming each Saturday through November called the Ranching at Rancho Series. Washoe County Parks and Open Space is currently seeking groups that relate to this amazing legacy of ranching and farming in Nevada to be a guest at one or more of these dates throughout 2015. The program is an open house format, free to the public, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Horse and pony rides are offered at Rancho through August every Friday-Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Lorie's Pony Express.
