Amber Joiner says she is humbled to be chosen to represent District 24 in the Assembly.

Reno, Nevada. Dec. 30, 2014. The Washoe County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to appoint Amber Joiner to the vacant seat in Nevada Assembly District 24.

Joiner brings vast experience to the Nevada Assembly after serving in various staff roles for more than a decade during six sessions at the Nevada Legislature. Joiner began working with the Nevada Legislature in 1997 as a Legislative Intern to the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Health & Human Services.

For six years, Joiner was a nonpartisan Senior Research Analyst and Committee Policy Analyst for the Legislative Counsel Bureau. She also worked with legislators in researching constituent concerns and responding to residents while serving as the Committee Policy Analyst for the Assembly Committee on Government Affairs.

Most recently, Joiner was the Deputy Director for Nevada's largest agency, the Department of Health & Human Services, where she tracked, analyzed legislation, reviewed and supported various budget items.

Washoe County Commissioner Kitty Jung of District 3 said Joiner was her first choice.

"Amber demonstrates the qualities of knowing the process and knowing the people," said Jung. "She has the ability to hit the ground running.”

Washoe County Commissioners appointed after David Bobzien, the representative for Assembly District 24, was selected to fill a vacant Reno City Council at-large seat Dec. 3, 2014.
